Time To Move

Harvey had never been afraid to live in New York City in all the time he had been here. It had always been home. The smells always comforted him and the massive crowds were a good thing. He liked his city. Everything about this place was amazing. The idea of living in DC to be with Annie properly was entertaining, but committing to it terrified him to his very soul. Not committing to her. It was committing to a new city. A new home. Harvey was surprisingly okay starting something with her that real. He wanted it. The push to move was just needed.
That push came in the form of a bomb. Not a figurative one, but an actual explosion. The perks of being a lawyer is that you spent ninety-nine percent of your time in a courthouse. Who targets courthouses? Psycho jackasses who hate how the system screwed them. Harvey would never understand why they couldn't just get some therapy and stop whining about everything. Those assholes never took the blame for their actions and blamed it on everyone.
His morning had been dull and spent in his office. There was a bright spot when Annie called from DC. The rest of his morning was spent confusing Louis for no reason other than it was hilarious to watch him wander around lost. He was in court after noon. It was another probono case to right his past wrongs.
It was an hour before the bomb went off. It seemed to rock the entire building. Emergency lights came on and the building seemed quiet for a split second. The panic set in and the screaming and running happened. Harvey didn't remember a single second of it. His side of the courtroom seemed to just collapse. It was a full four minutes before he came to among wood and plaster. He didn't waste time trying to navigate out of the building. His side was screaming in pain and his head was swimming. He swiped at the blood trickling down the side of his head and attempted to find the right way to go.
When he finally did get outside he could see just how bad the damage was. Everything hurt and he could see that a number of people were being carried out dead. Sitting in the back of the ambulance while an EMT cleaned his head wound Harvey knew what he wanted. He'd be moving to DC to be with her.
